Leadership

Shidong Jia | CEO

Shidong Jia, MD, PhD, is the Founder and CEO of Predicine. Prior to founding Predicine, Shidong spearheaded the oncology biomarker strategies and drug & diagnostics co-development at Genentech. His previous work identified p110beta as novel drug target for PTEN-deficient tumors, a finding that laid the foundation for clinical development and testing of p110beta inhibitors in cancers. He previously held various senior research positions focusing on translational and clinical cancer research at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research and Harvard University. Shidong was awarded the P.A.R.T. Investigatorship Award from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Shidong holds a MD and PhD from Harbin Medical University and Peking Union Medical College, and completed postdoctoral training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute – Harvard University.

Pan Du | President

Pan Du, PhD, is the Co-founder, President and CTO at Predicine. Pan is an expert in next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics, and oncology diagnostics. He has developed multiple widely used bioinformatics analysis software and has authored numerous publications, including several 1st authorship manuscripts that are cited over thousands times. Prior to Predicine, Pan was Principal Scientist at Roche Diagnostics and Senior Computational Biologist at Genentech. He was previously an Assistant Professor at Biomedical Informatics Center at Northwestern University. Pan holds a PhD with distinction in both Bioinformatics and Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University and a MS and BS in Electrical Engineering from National University of Defense Technology in China.

Jianjun Yu | CSO

Jianjun Yu, PhD, is the Chief Scientific Officer at Predicine. Prior to Predicine, Jianjun held various senior bioinformatics positions at Medivation, Genentech and Novartis. Jianjun is an expert in cancer genomics, target discovery & validation, clinical trial and biomarker development. He has authored numerous publications in New England Journal of Medicine and Cancer Cell, Nature, and Science. Jianjun holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from University of Michigan and a BS in Environmental Biology from Peking University.

We heavily use DNA sequences algorithms to detect rare genomic events such as SNV, structural variants (SV), methylation status, copy number variation (CNV) in cancer cells. The candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and have high standards and accountability on the quality of deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the NGS pipelines, bioinformatics, and analytical algorithms.

Perform high complex molecular genetic tests including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and Next Generation Sequencing on patients’ specimens including all steps from sample processing to result reporting as per the company SOPs
Bring forth the specialized scientific and technical knowledge essential to perform lab testing.
Successfully complete all proficiency testing prior to submission to the Laboratory Director.
Maintain pertinent records according to the Quality Management plan to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
Assist in assay validation studies of lab developed tests with the approval of the Laboratory Director.
Demonstrate the ability to maintain competency and take on training responsibilities as needed.
Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem resolution.
May assist with duplicate operations in Shanghai as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned and assist others as time allows.

Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (CLS) generalist or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License (CGMBS).
Prior experience with PCR based and/ or next generation sequencing (NGS) methods and data analysis preferred.
General office and laboratory conditions, mobility to work in a typical clinical laboratory setting using standard equipment.
Able to lift up to 20 lbs on an occasional basis.
Repetitive manual pipetting may be necessary.
Occasional International travel may be required.

DRY LABSENIOR BIOINFORMATICS SCIENTIST /ALGORITHM DEVELOPER

The Position

We seek a highly motivated and talented Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to develop NGS pipelines and analyze clinical NGS data in diagnostics and precision medicine. The candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and have high standards and accountability on quality of deliverables.

Responsibilities

Develop the NGS pipelines, bioinformatics and analytical algorithms
Analyze deep sequencing NGS data in oncology diagnostics and treatment
Work closely with members of the bioinformatics group and wet-lab research scientists to develop and validate the performance of production systems.
Participate as a team member on data analysis tasks

Expertise in with C++/C programming.
Deep understanding of advanced algorithms such as suffix tree, tries, graph algorithms, De Bruijn Graph, machine learning algorithms such as Hidden Markov model, and dynamic programming is a plus.
Clear understanding of commonly used bioinformatics algorithms such as Burrows-Wheeler transformation, and Blast. Basic understanding of relational database.
PhD or MS (5+ years experience) in bioinformatics or other computational fields
Knowledge of genomics data and resources is a plus.
Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse technologies and techniques.
Effective verbal and written communication skills are a must.
